cosmicharlie speaks the truth, like Moses descending from the mountain with revelation and words to live by. The Pigpen torrent he gives the link to is chock full of tasty treats, enough protein and blues to keep a soul going for a good long time. I downed it end of August and it has been in my rotation ever since.

This:

is a blast for the dialogue. Specific to Phil's singing, check out track 10. At the end he says, "I'm tryin' to learn how to sing too, man."

what a harmony trio that would have made!
hmmm...did'nt they play together for a few shows in '72 before Ron got too sick? I seem to remember there were a few shows where both Keith & Pigpen played keyboards, i could be wrong though

both pigpen and keith were at the boston music hall 12/2/71....they are introduced at the beginning of the show and no, the guy with the accent wasnt mik jagger...i think i would have remembered that.

everybody's got their own opinions, and i respect that, but i can't really even think about the dead and their impact on culture and society without thinking of the pigpen days. besides, i've always loved his voice, but thats my opinion

i know what you mean man - i just could never get into his voice. and honestly, i know pig was considered the "front man" of gd in the early years - i just don't buy it - it was and always will be garcia even if he wasn't in the vocal forefront. charisma lends alot to "front man" status, and from what ive read - pig just didn't have it. he may have seemed like the "front man" - i just don't think he really was. garcia ran the show from moment one. not trying to start a flame war by any stretch. just my opinion. (and im not being a garcia fanatic in those thoughts, just what i read)
